Checking the colorspace of the application using XSplit VCam

XSplit VCam offers applications to receive frames in both RGB24 and ARGB32 pixel format. The Remove background function requires that the application using VCam is connected to ARGB32 and that the application has ssupport for background transparency. Generally, video conferencing applications like Skype, GoToMeeting, Cisco Webex Meetings and Teams do not support the Remove background function.

If you are using a creative video mixer application with support for alpha transparency, you need to ensure that the application is configured to receive ARGB32 frames from VCam. We have included the directions below to apply the setting to XSplit Broadcaster, XSplit Gamecaster, OBS Studio, and VMix.

XSplit Broadcaster

  1. On XSplit Broadcaster, right-click on your XSplit VCam device source to open the source properties. Click Configure then select Video Output:

  2. Selecting Video Output will open the Properties dialog. Under Color Space/Compression, select ARGB32.

XSplit Gamecaster

XSplit Gamecaster automatically selects ARGB32 video output so no further configuration is required.

OBS Studio

If you are using the DirectShow driver, OBS should be configured to only show ARGB option, so no further configuration is required. If you are using the Kernel hardware driver, then you need to change the video format.

In order to access the properties on OBS, you'll first need to set Resolution/FPS Type to Custom then set the same settings as shown in the image below.

VMix

When you add XSplit VCam as a camera input source, make sure to select ARGB32 under the Video Format menu.
