Streaming

Streaming is where you can select the streaming platform and set up your account. The default options are Twitch, Facebook and YouTube.

Automatic

In automatic mode, Gamecaster automatically determines which encoder to use and will select an appropriate resolution, frame rate and bitrate when you go live.

Depending on your environment and your computer’s capabilities, automatic mode may change the default settings to best match your system.

Custom

Custom streaming mode allows you to manually set a resolution, bitrate, and other settings.

Ingest Server
Specify a target server for streaming.

Resolution
Set the stage resolution for your stream to whether 360p, 480p, 540p, 720p, 900p, or 1080p.
The higher the resolution, the more upload bandwidth and CPU usage are required.

Codec
Available codecs will depend on the PC's hardware components. For live streaming, x264 is recommended for streaming.

Frame Rate
Set the frame rate for your stream to either 30 or 60 FPS.

Bitrate
Set the bitrate value for your stream. This is measured in kbps (kilobits per second) of the data you transmit.

  • Constant bitrate will always attempt to match the bitrate you've set.
  • Adaptive bitrate auto-adjusts the bitrate value depending on your bandwidth connection.
(Note: Adaptive bitrate only works for x264 codec.)

Stream Delay
Enable to set a delay (seconds) for your stream, which is useful for hiding gameplay from opponents trying to get info by monitoring your stream.

Record locally
Enable to automatically save your live stream video in the same location as your recordings folder. Note that this is a copy of your stream and will only output an MP4 file. This feature is also available in automatic mode.

  • Split Recordings allow you to split your saved live stream based on size (MB> or time (Minutes).

Note: In Custom mode, you may need to do a bit of experimenting to find the settings best suited for your setup.
