Whats the best settings for me to stream WoW?

Hey all, Ive just got xsplit and ive read alot of posts and tried alot of settings, so guess the stream is working somewhat decent but i was wondering if there is anything i can do to make the stream work even better, as it looks a bit blurry and lags with spikes sometimes.. I also want to add that i am using Game Booster 3 as suggested in the forums, to help out the streams.

My pc is relatively new, so i was hoping to get a decent looking stream atleast, The specs for it are below.

Processor : Intel Core i7 860 2,80GHz
Memory : 8 GB DDR3 RAM 1600mhz
Graphic card : ASUS Radeon HD 6970 2GB OC
Motherboard :Asus - Socket 1156 - ATX Intel P55 (P7P55D)
OS : Windows 7 x64

After running a speedtest(on speedtest.net) this was my result.


With all this said, i guess is hould talk about the settings im using.

Im using the resolution at 1280x720 while streaming, scaled down to 30% of viewpoint.

The quality is set to 8, VBV max Bitrate(kbps): 1050, VBV Buffer(kbps): 1350. Resolution on properties is set to "Default stage resolution".



I have read that the location which is currently set to default can be helpful sometimes by choosing it but as i dont know how this will play its part in my case, ive simply not changed it.

The plan is to stream our raids on a casual basis in World of Warcraft, and maybe when pvping or doing different things, for fun. Ive even set down the settings to "good" in game, and i am playing with windowed fullscreen. Does it differ if i use dx11 or dx9?

Id really appriciate if i could get some help in this thread and im really looking forward to get some answers and sorry if i forgot to mention anything,

Without seeing your stream, I have no frame of reference for what you are getting. I am still fiddling around myself trying to find best quality at a reasonable performance hit.

My specs are a little of a bump up from yours, but you can use my stream as a frame of reference. I am new to streaming, so I know that there are some improvements I can make as well.

Proc: i7 930 (OC'd to 3.96GHz)
RAM: 12GB @ 1600MHz
GFX: 1.5GB GTX480 (OC'd to 1600)
Bandwidth: 50down/5up (my upload overperforms a bit & usually tests out around 5.13Mbps)
Stage res: 1920x1080 @ 30fps

Streaming to: justin.tv
Preset: XSplit default
Quality: 10
bitrate: 4500
buffer: 4500
Resolution: Default Stage resolution

I am using Game Source & not using Game Booster. I had been encoding the audio at the minimum setting originally, but just last night switched to 44.1KHz 16bit mono to see if I noticed any performance hit; seemed to be fine. I do also use a Killer NIC & have traffic priorities set for game & streaming traffic. My location is set to US Central Secondary.

I just got some questions aobut this, as i see you are running with 4500 bitrate and 4500 buffer, isnt these specs dependant on your upload speed? i guess your upload speed is abour 4-6 mbps as you can use these numbers, am i wrong about this?

Bump, My stream is still laggy! Does anyone have any input about how i can improve my stream? Would really appriciate some help!

Yeah I haven't been streaming for long but since your wow stream looks good and you have a good enough comp to stream in this quality I suggest tuning your FPS u might want to set a custom FPS on split and or maybe put your max-bit and buffer to 1000. Stereo might work better than mono but idk. You could lower you quality setting dawn a few to 5-6 maybe your lag will go away

I'm only at this page since im trying to figure out the same for me but my computer is garbage compared to yours xD lolz I could stream better if I had your comp
